 2022 Preview 


       T.R. Miller completed the 2021 season with a 10-3 record. Last year T.R. Miller captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class 3A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. T.R. Miller lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Montgomery Academy team by a score of 28-0.

       The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2015.

       The defense was very stingy last season as T.R. Miller ranked 38th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.8 points a game.

       Since 2010, T.R. Miller has gone a combined 106-39. Their 73.1% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, T.R. Miller has gone a combined 246-72. Their 77.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 4A and 10th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2007.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Brent Hubbert who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 28-11 over the past three seasons at T.R. Miller. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Hubbert.

       Coach Hubbert's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-one season stands at 211-52 (80.2%). His 211 wins rank 11th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Hubbert's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty times and won twelve region championships. He has a 43-17 record in the playoffs during his career. The playoff victories rank with the best among active coaches. Coach Hubbert won three state championships prior to arriving at T.R. Miller, the last coming in 2016 at Maplesville.

       The T.R. Miller Tigers will play in Class 4A region one during the 2022 season. The Tigers move up in classification to Class 4A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Tigers enter the 2022 season having won 6 straight region games.

       The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Hillcrest Evergreen on Friday, August 19 at Brooks Memorial Stadium. Last year the Hillcrest Evergreen Jaguars finished with an overall record of 7-6 and in second place in Class 3A region one. The Jaguars lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Catholic Montgomery by a score of 41-6.

       T.R. Miller and Hillcrest Evergreen have met a total of 24 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 22-2-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in 2021 with T.R. Miller winning by a score of 20-0.
